Chicken Scratch, a Midwestern-inspired rotisserie chicken concept, will open early this fall at City Foundry STL at 3700 Forest Park Ave.

If you are a regular reader of “Life is Sweet,” you will know I love all things lemon.

Previous articles included lemon chiffon cake, lemon meringue pie and lemon blueberry muffins. For our Easter meal, I decided to make a cake that seemed to say spring has arrived and, for me, that meant something lemon. As you might have noticed, a lot of strange things happened in 2020. That included how we suddenly had to worry that anything and everything could actually be cake. Enjoying that sculpture of Bruce Willis’s John McClane from Die Hard? That’s cake. Want to enjoy a nice cup of hot coffee? CAKE. The whole thing was bizarre. We’re still walking around wondering if shaving cream is really frosting.
