Sweet Corn Festival, free produce donations

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — We’re bringing you Tri-State restaurant happenings and food news you need to know. Check out this weekly feature to keep up to date on the latest.

The Bluegrass in the Park Folklife Festival will happen on Friday, Aug. 13 and Saturday, Aug.14 at Audubon Mill Park in Henderson from 4-11 p.m. Look for music, food, a watermelon eating contest, folklife and artisan vendors.

Myriad Brewing Company is opening a tap room in Newburgh. It will be located north of Highway 66 at 8245 High Pointe Drive, between Fiesta Acapulco and Zaxby’s.

Hobart Corporation marks 50th anniversary in Hillsboro with donations to new White’s Bakery kitchen

One longtime Hillsboro institution supported another recently, as Hobart Corporation donated equipment for the new White’s Bakery facility — establishing a connection between two businesses with over 100 combined years of service to the community.

Hobart donated a 60-quart mixer for the kitchen at White’s, while Hobart’s weight/wrap business unit also contributed a deli scale.

After connecting with Feeding Southwest Virginia, Pascal said Farmburguesa has committed to volunteering a minimum of 100 hours with the nonprofit this year, with each employee agreeing to at least five hours.

Pascal said Farmburguesa’s efforts demonstrate why consumers should support local businesses, which give back to their communities.

“This is affecting people that they know. This is their neighbor, this is their co-worker, this is somebody they could run across on the street.
