College Station’s famous Layne’s Chicken Fingers coming to Katy

Layne’s Chicken Fingers, the legendary fried chicken joint out of College Station, will soon be opening its first ever Houston-area location in Katy.

The restaurant will open its doors on June 26 in the location of the former chicken-focused restaurant PDQ at 23703 Cinco Ranch Boulevard.

The original Layne’s Chicken Fingers opened in 1994 near Texas A&M University. It was there that Masroor Fatany, then a student at A&M, became a Layne’s devotee. Fatany also owns five Halal Guys restaurants across the Houston area.

LoveBird Almost Famous Chicken restaurant opens in Lakeland

LAKELAND — If the fried chicken doesn’t make you get up and sing at LoveBird Almost Famous Chicken, the blasting ’80s music certainly will.

The quick-service, Nashville hot fried chicken restaurant opened April 26 at the former Starbucks location on South Florida Avenue. Since opening, the eatery has drawn lines around its building and the popular Polk County Restaurants and Reviews page is littered with — mostly glowing — reviews.

The idea was born around June of 2020. Owners Leah and Jeremy Brumley put the business plan, concept and branding together while at home during the pandemic. They signed their

Edible flowers are used in recipes and as garnishes at many restaurants these days, but have you tried them in your own garden and kitchen? There are so many edible flowers to choose from, and you may already grow many of them in your ornamental or vegetable beds. There may even be some growing wild on your property as there are in mine.

A couple of key safety rules to remember when growing and using your own edible flowers is that you must not put any chemicals on them. That means no

Downtown Phoenix is getting Gus’s Fried Chicken. Here’s when it opens

In January 2021, the first Arizona location of the self-described Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken opened in downtown Mesa.

Soon, it’s Phoenix’s turn to get a taste.

Earlier this month, downtown Phoenix concert venue The Van Buren announced the return of live music on June 4. By the end of July, noshing on buttermilk fried chicken and deep-fried pickles before catching a show might make the perfect evening.

The new location of Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken is set to open on the southeast corner of Van Buren Street and Fourth Avenue, next door to the music venue.
