DUXBURY — Local residents have an assortment of delicious desserts including carrot cake, pies and cupcakes to choose from while supporting marine education programs in Duxbury.
Duxbury Beach Reservation and the Duxbury Education Foundation, two local nonprofits, are combining efforts to support marine science and other educational programs by selling the desserts prepared by Montilio’s Baking Company and distributing them on Saturday, April 3, the day before Easter.
Orders can be placed online. The offerings include freshly baked pies, cakes and Easter-themed desserts.
Volunteers from both organizations will be at Duxbury Beach Park or Blakeman’s Restaurant on Saturday, April 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to deliver the desserts to customers’ vehicles without personal contact.
Desserts must be ordered before the pickup day.
“This is truly a community event that everyone can support,” said Cris Luttazi, executive director of the Duxbury Beach Reservation. “Education is key to the preservation and protection of the beach.”
Kate Moriarty, president of the Duxbury Education Foundation, said the money will support educational programs both at the beach and in the classroom.
