Two men suspected of robbing the employees of a Korean barbecue restaurant in Irvine have been arrested, authorities said.

The suspects walked into All That Barbecue in the 15300 block of Culver Road with handguns just past 11 a.m. on Jan. 19, and demanded that all employees walk toward the bathroom, Irvine police said Friday, Jan. 28.

One of the men took the employees’ wallets and cell phones, while the other suspect checked the restaurant’s cash registers and safe, but found them empty, police said.

The men then left through the rear door with the employees’ property, police said. The restaurant was about 20 minutes from opening when the suspects entered.

Surveillance photos released by police showed the men wore sunglasses, black hoodies and blue jeans. Police identified them as Allan Hoang, 28, of Monterey Park and Alanmichael Babauta, 25, of Westminster.

Hoang used to work at the restaurant in 2017, police said.

Babauta was arrested by Huntington Beach police the day after the robbery while driving a stolen vehicle, police said. Hoang was arrested Thursday by Irvine police with help from Santa Ana and Garden Grove officers.

During Hoang’s arrest, police said, they found a silver handgun similar to those used during the robbery. Hoang also had the victims’ property, they said.

The two men were booked into jail on suspicion of robbery, kidnapping, burglary, false imprisonment and conspiracy, police said.

Hoang was being held on $545,000 bail, while Babauta was being held on no bail, according to inmate records.
